Mainly to Spaniards, so they do buy S/H stuff.

Half decent stuff moves from our bins within 15 mins. lol

i think also you have totally misunderstood ebay. Ebay has over 10,000 categories each different and each containing sometimes hundreds of thousands of items.

If i find, lets say, and old toy car, for a euro, depends on what it is, but i can get 50 for it. Not bad for 5 misn work?

and bikes?

er.......old bikes fetch money too.

remember the raleigh chopper???

if you have a 1970s one in good condition, you will get 500 euros for it no problem.

....i'll just sit and wait for you to say something negative about that too.

I apologise, I did not realise that we were monitored on our opinions, but then again if you like dealing in trash so be it. I would rather give it away than sell something that is worthless. Once a pikey always a pikey I surpose.

And that IS not a negative.

Maybe its a regional or indeed a regional and a class thing!

Should I qualify every reply I make with a signature that reads that I have lived and worked in Valencia continuously for the past 9 years. 90% of my friends are Spanish, we are very close even going on holidays together. We have been to many European countries and the States together and they are quite frankly amazed at the culture differences. If they tell me that certain practices are thought as bringing bad luck I am inclined to believe them

BTW They do not have second hand stuff nor do they go bin diving.

So what?....everyone who sells something on eBay is a pikey? Yeah, right.

Wasn't this whole thread about looking for outlets for second hand stuff that ISN'T worthless, cos the worthless stuff just goes straight in the bins, right?

I cant really understand why you have so many friends. I wouldnt come near you.

This is a fun, informative forum with fun honest people.

Lightheartedness dosent become you.

Maybe you should look on the websites for people returning to uk.

Im not into pettiness and certainly have no time for at the moment but youve really p*ssed me off.

Just on this one, yes things do go missing in the Spanish postal system - the only times I've ever not received stuff or anyone in the UK hasn't received stuff is when it's obviously been a gift, by appearance - ie a parcel or kind of pretty envelope stuff. Coincidence? Maybe....

Good god in heaven (a) don't get so aerated by her - though of course I did too........ and (b) absolutamente. We (OH & I) between us have various degree/college/post college qualifications, two houses, at one time too many cars to mention, blah blah. Doesn't stop me buying my designer stuff in charity shops & furnishing as much as poss from the heap by the basura. Let other folk buy and pay what they choose. I will too. But if I can get what I want for free (or very little) I will.
Oh, and btw worthless is a bit like houses...... only worth what someone will pay for them. If someone doesn't want something doesn't mean it's worthless, cos someone else just might!!!!!

Default Re: Getting rid of second hand stuff

I find that often the MORE money someone has, the more likely they are to look for bargains and freebies. I have friends who have a very successful business, etc etc, are loaded, but they always seek out a way to keep more of their hard earned lolly. We do the same (but aren't quite as loaded, unfortunately!). As they say, take care of the pennies...

Re aggro on this forum, I must say it is quite disturbing just how touchy some people are and how quick to jump down each others' virtual throats (I'm not naming names as really not interested in who it is, it's behaviour for the playground). I thought we were all supposed to be chilled out and "living the dream"... (anyone else hate that phrase?!).

All this argy bargy over S/H stuff reminds me of the UK car boots when two punters both spot a likely bargain at the same moment and a minor disagreement ensues.
I once saw two women trying to tear each others throats out and the clothes of each others back, all over a nice little frock that they both spotted at the same time.
Needless to say the frock ended up in shreds after a major tug of war and they both ended up out of pocket having to pay for it.

Probably happen here soon enough,......can just see the headlines now......
Barny at the Basura end with two in hospital and one in custody.

Hi Valeta, Chiclana is not to far for you and there is a car boot sale there every 2 weeks on a Sunday, it is well attended by buyers as there are delicious bacon butties on sale. Pm for details.
