We have friends in Spain who have found it very difficult to get married. He is Spanish, she is and English divorcee who has lived as a resident in Spain for many years.

They had the ceremony planned for this July andhave had to cancel it because even with 5 months in the pipeline, all the necessary paperwork will not be completed in time!

The only way it would be difficult is if the people getting married havent been signed on the padron in the past few years. As this is one of the docs you have to provide. A friend of ours had difficulties because he moved from Madrid to Barcelona and forgot to tell the relevant authorities!

If you are divorced then you will need your official certificate and for that to be legally translated into Spanish, as well as your birth certificate

yes the place we are planning to marry has done plenty of weddings there before so it is ok to marry there. and yes there is a private area, they have their own patio that we can marry on.

we plan to marry at around 8pm so it will be cooler and not as many people around.

i have a few friends who have married here before so we are ok with translating and getting the paper work it is just the registrar we need to orgnaise.

Why not ask at the place your marrying at, since they've done lots of weddings!?
