Default getting married!

Hi

We plan to get married next august in Torremolinos. We have found a venue but we need to organise someone to actually perform the legal ceremony. We want a civil ceremony.

Does any know how I can organise this? People have suggested going to gib and getting the legal part done there and then having a blessing here in Spain, but we would rather do the whole thing here in Spain.

Many thanks in advance

Town halls usually do that in Spain. You should appy at the ayuntamiento you reside in.

We had a townhall wedding in Asturias, it was incredible, lovely old building, more character than a church And free!

There is some information about the formalities on the UK Embassy site.

There was hardly any red tape in Spain, it was dead easy. We just had to get a doc from the embassy and another from the town hall and hey presto.

It is more complicated if you want to get married in a church as you have to prove that you are both good Catholics

thank you all for your replies.

we have lived here in Spain for nearly 4 years now so really want to do the whole wedding here.

we want to get married on the beach and this is ok but we have to find a registrar to do the ceremony.

Maybe if we go to the town hall we can use their registrar on the beach¿???

Dont know about that, I thought that in Spain you had to use a place that is registered by the ayuntamento as a wedding venue. I dont think you can get married anywhere.

Anyway just go to your ayuntamiento they'll be able to tell you for sure

Suggest you contact your town hall because although the links shown are correct in what paperwork you need to obtain most town halls will also add their own! I do know having just organised paperwork for a wedding in Benidorm that you have to be on the padron for a certain length of time and also the waiting time was about 18 months! (Details correct at time of typing but not necessarily tomorrow or the following day)!

We had no waiting time in Asturias, we were given a number of slots to choose form that hadnt been booked yet. Prime wedding time is June, July and August on Saturdays, so they go first. But yes I am sure it varies depending on your town hall.

Hi think there wedding organizer made it look hard for them , and got more money out of them .I only saw her at gib and her face hit the floor when i told her we were hitch here. They not catholics either and there no problems. They decided get blessed in our local community where they call it there local restaurant from my house . Had there photos by the pool n beach . She did the big church thing before.

Mmm, I don't think you can just get married "anywhere" either, they like to keep things nice and tidy in their official places... By the way the Manantial gardens look like a fabulous place for wedding pics and it is free if you are on the padron!

I live in Torremolinos, why not private message me, I am a translator/interpreter with a lot of experience with all the red tape and helping organise this kind of event in Spain, so perhaps I could help you in some way.

Another thought, a wedding on the beach in August in Torremolinos?! Do you have a venue planned that will guarantee you an exclusive space for you and your guests?
