They admitted to mis reading the situation.
I really felt a bit sorry for them
perhaps I should not as they have gambled my savings away.

i didnt feel sorry for them especially after finding out one of them was still earning 60k each MONTH from the same bank he brought down -- as a financial consultant--- would you believe!!!
Perhaps i ought to apply saying thatb I have no formal qualifications in banking but i am more than willing to take a bit of flak for that sort of money

It is in their contract of employment. If the banks had 'gone bust' and into receivership these bonuses would have been null and void, however this would probably not have been a desirable situation for the UK as a whole. It is a shame that Gordon didn't look beyond the immediate problem and foresee this result of his actions!

"Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalised, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism."
Karl Marx, Das Kapital, 1867.
And we all thought Gordon and the Morons did not know what they were doing!

By the way, has anyone else noticed that every time the pound looks as though it is going to stage a recovery, either Gordon , or Alastair, or Ed Balls or Mervin King comes out with a statement trashing the UK?

Or am I just paranoid?

I too have noticed it. All the decent news, retail sales up in Jan, house prices up (maybe, but they are't crashing), Unemployment figures not as bad as expected has been very low profile compared to the rantings of Brown and the Bank of England.

James Crosby, Gordon Brown's friend, has been given the boot as deputy head of the Financial Services Agency because when he was at HBOS he sacked a whistle-blower who said the the bank was heading for disaster. I don't think Brown can disassociate himself from this scandal that easily.

I have just heard on the news that the Bank of England is likely to take a positive decision on 'quantitative easing' (printing money to you and me) at the next meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee. This will put even more downward pressure on sterling especially if they reduce interest rates again as well.
