Good evening we are on the move and hopefully will be signing the contract on our rented house within days. We live in France and our furniture has been acquired over the years here in France.
Today we have received a quote from a French based organisation to pack and move us to Javea. Yes understand coming back empty and whilst others are yet to quote the figure today was over 15000 euros. Yes there are personal bits that can be moved by a man and a van but 15000 euros is a hell of a lot of money.
Thus a 180 if not 360 degree change and we thought why not sell what we have here for when we leave Spain it will be back to our UK house and then furnish locally. It is simply the financial package for if we cannot furnish a house and inject the proceeds of selling here and get under 15000 euros there is something wrong. However would welcome alternative thoughts.
Are there organisations in the area please that enter into this sort of arrangement and is our logic not to be supported?
best wishes

when I moved our place in UK to Spain it was much less than a third of your quote, it arrived in 5 days exactly as agreed. The only problem was i had just driven 1500 miles down by car, by myself, and was fully kerrypackered and they rang the door bell at 0730, having travelled from the depot in Murcia.
I needed a strong tea more than they did.

I have used Jimbo the Scot on two occasions and been well satisfied with the service. He is based in Almeria I believe and has a UK Spain schedule on his website www.jimbothescot.com/ .
I don't know whereabouts you are in France but worth considering.
I have no connections with the chap other than having used him twice.

All of the UK removals to Spain will journey through France so will be pleased to pick up a part load in France.
I would recommend > http://www.grantofbuckie.com/
If you value your possessions, beware cheap man and a van removal service.

Of course but here I must say that as I get older I do not like change. Have lived in France for so many years and know the system the way around and what to do.
It was my dream and now it is my wife's turn and she after a holiday there and with her brother and best friend living respectively in Calpe and Javea wants to give it a go.
I will of course support but it is with heavy heart that I do so for the unknown as you get older is of concern to me. And then the question of getting our animals down there safely is another. Monetary we should be ok and slowly knocking issues off the list but still I worry. This is of recent origins in that whilst in harness decision making was one of my strong points - right or wrong.
It really is a difficult concept for me.
However the help on this forum is worth so very much

That's WAY too much! Use a Spanish company, they will be much cheaper!
I wouldn't recommend trying to buy decent furniture in Spain ... It is either hideous and solid, or cheap and flimsy - hence the popularity of Ikea

Sorry you are apprehensive, with a negative outlook you will find much to dishearten.
Try to think of it as a challeging new adventure and you will not be disappointed.

Now I find I have to think more and more before making decisions, they are mine and I want to ensure they are right - especially when it involves the BH, I hate getting any tiny bit wrong.
now at 65 and 60 we have suddenly come to realise that we are no longer 40, living the dream has to be right, we don't have the time to get it wrong and start again. We also can't exist without certain reasonable luxuries and being stuck up a 5km track that needs a 4X4 25km from the nearest neighbour letalone shop for milk isnt acceptable anymore.

I think it is the problem that in business someone else i.e. "the company" is taking the strain even if it is you making the decisions. I had that all day, every day, even over weekends.
