Frontier queue

Frontier queue
On our side of the border the Royal Gibraltar Police are proactive in managing the queues and our government has even handed out water when the tail backs have been truly abusive. The queues are still there but they are orderly, everybody crosses in their turn and in case of emergency help is at hand.
This is in a stark contrast to the situation in "no-man's land" on the La Línea side of the border which is also a "no-police land". On a normal day people queue for hours whilst at the first roundabout cars push in, the second lane is blocked by vehicles whilst rows break out, some cars even try to enter by accessing the last stretch of the queue or by driving in through the Customs exit. To be blunt it is mayhem.

Is this all the time when approaching Gib from Spain then? Is there a good time to do it?

When you look at it from that perspective the the Rock has been British for longer than it was Spanish - so the only arguement is proximity and if that's the criteria why shouldn't Germany have taken over the Sudetanland?

Re: Frontier queue
I went to Gibraltar yesterday and crossed from La Linea and there was no time wasted. True it was Sunday and most of the shops were closed. The place was very clean and tidy while La Linea by comparison was really shabby which I found surprising cos the Spanish towns and villages I have visited always look for clean.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.
Please let me know if you need any further help.

Long pedestrian queues are usually reserved for the very hottest days of summer, there is no shade for pedestrians, or cars either.
