There's no such thing as a 'red' day - a term made up by foreigners for some bizarre reason. The Spanish have no idea what a 'red' day is - calendars do NOT all mark it as red - on one of mine it's blue

Red (letter) day is an English expression derived from the old Anglican Prayer Book, where headings for Sundays and Feast Days were printed in red, while weekdays (ferias) were in black.

I was in the local Mercadona last night, my first supermarket trip as I returned to Spain yesterday after three weeks away. I was somewhat amused to discover my neighbours seem to have panic bought cheese, wine, chocolate and washing powder. While I couldn't get fresh milk or butter I was able to get pretty much everything on my list to get us through the first couple of days. We're just back from holiday so our fridge is empty of fresh food. I didn't feel any need to panic buy, just adapt a little.

Where we live we have a lot of space for cycling, running and dog walking. I believe we can still walk our dogs but everything else is banned. I'm not planning on going out any more than to the shop for the foreseeable future. My husband will do the dog walking. Like someone above, I used a fruit and veg glove when i did my shopping, tried to only pick up what I was buying and followed the new chevrons at the tills to keep a social distance. I used my own hand sanitiser many times as I shopped (try opening those veg bags without licking your fingers!!) and when I got home I washed my hands and face thoroughly.

I came home to a very different country to the one I left just a few weeks ago.
