Default Form 790- Criminal Record Certificate

Dear all,

A few quick questions. I have been living out here for over a year and haven't been working, but living off my savings. I only have a passport as identification. I need to obtain this certificate as I am moving back to the UK and my teaching agency state that it may be a good idea to get this alongside CRB checks in the UK. Will my passport alone suffice as ID? I am a bit worried as I have not registered permanently here as on several occasions I was going to return to the UK. Also can I go to any police station or to a regional office? Apologies for all the questions! Thanks in advance.

I can't remember what the ID requirements were (I did this in January) but it's not the police station, it's the Ministerio de Justicia you have to go to.

And you take the completed form to the bank first, pay the fee (you need to know how much it is because the bank won't know) then take the form with the bank receipt to the Ministerio.

See here - download form at bottom right http://www.mjusticia.gob.es/cs/Satel....html?param1=1

See here for where to take it once it's complete

The price as of 2 Jan this year is 3,62€

According to the instructions that come with the downloaded form, your passport is valid as ID.

Note- if your certificate needs to be used outside spain then you must notify them at the time (there's a space on the form for this). They will then tell you what to do. I had to send mine off with a prepaid return envelope to the Ministerio de Justicia in Madrid with a cover note to explain what it was for. It came back about a week later - the man who processed my request and gave me the certificate expalined exactly what to do. Mine was for Chile, it might be easier within the EU.

We did this last week (but in the Canary Islands). Took Passport, copy and residencia and copy but we could have just used the passport. They completed it all there and then but we had to return the next day once it had been sign by some official. We had to say why we wanted it - work etc and where for. But it was easy

You will need an NIE at least so if you haven't even done that, you could be stuffed!

Just goes to show why people should follow the rules/law!

There is an English version of this form. Can this be sent instead or is it best to do the Spanish version?

I need to send mine from the UK for when I lived in Barcelona for 6 months in 2009. I have a non residents certificate that I got from the local police station whilst I was over there. Is it best to use that or my passport number as the certificate number will be out of date?
