Default First of the year

Well we've seen the odd gecko popping up in recent weeks, but this is the first of these fella's to be seen. Only about 10in/25cm long, I found him on the gravel bed while I was spraying weeds this morning. As you can see after the pics I let him go back into the plantlife so he can grow to adulthood. You can just make out the mark on the top of his head making him to be a Horseshoe Whiptail snake.

I saw a snake on my walk last week... my shadow caused it to move, it was black and probably about three feet (one metre) long.

He just shot off into the field pretty sharp... neither I nor the dogs were bothered.. nice to see nature at it's best..

I don't mind snakes.. but still not looking forward to seeing one of the centipedes mentioned in earlier posts...
