Fire in Mojacar

I've just spent the last four days covered in soot and - sometimes - very frightened as well as, last Thursday, a wall of fire came down on Mojácar where I live; burning some 3,500 hectares of land and numerous houses, cars and livestock. The fire started in Cabrera - more or less where the previous week's fire had left off (4,000 hectares, several houses burnt). It was so major that the British news even covered the story ('Coronation Street Star Unhurt') - whoever the hell they were talking about. The fire destroyed my land, garden, trees, garage, outhouses and killed some animals, but spared the house.
Anyway, I wrote it up at www.theentertaineronline.com for those who know the area.

You are safe and well (if sooty!), that is the main thing. Thank you for keeping us updated. Best wishes for the clean up.

How awful for you, it must have been traumatic.
Glad you are OK.
I keep waiting to hear news about the mountains behind my house in Granada Province (we're in the UK at the moment).

Glad to hear you are OK, saw it on SKY and it looked terrible
There was a big fire over by Villalonga, inland from us apparantly, although the worst we saw of it was a load of ash distributed all over the place and in the pool

Sorry to hear of your problems. I enjoyed the articles you wrote, both about the fire and others in the shilling.
Well written and interesting.

Thank you for the article and link to the other writing, it brings home the horrific happenings in Almeria. The best of luck with your long hose.
