Venice is great, but it stinks. Really stinks.

I am very glad I went, and have seen it, but it is one of those places I wouldn't want to visit twice. The sheer number of tourists was too much for me, and I also found it very prone to ripping off tourists (most very popular destinations do, to some extent, but Venice I think is worse than most).

I have been there a couple of times and did not find that it stank.

I understand that August is the worst time to go there so we avoided it then.
