Default Farewell B Crow

So young, 52. I thought he looked 65 or more

Ironic as it's not long ago he was saying he hoped M Thatcher rot in hell.

His legacy will surely be driverless trains and unmanned stations.

Ken Livingstone "(RMT) members are one of the few groups of working class people who still have well-paid jobs... that is down to (Bob Crow)"

I didn't agree with Bob Crow but you have to admire his conviction and the way he fought for his members.
Listening to the radio it seems he was an extremely nice guy and even those opposed to his views have been very complimentary.

He was a pit bull in his dealings with Union business and like him or loathe him, he stuck to his guns when it came to his principles, something today's politicians would do well to learn from. Even for those of us with a left leaning he could be an abrasive character but there is no doubt he raised the living standards for many union members.

They always are nice guys when they are dead. He did seem a straight talking guy though, honest...I think. Good for his members. Anti-EU too and wanted to bring back the death penalty.

Thanks to him that thousands of commuters are paying thousands of pounds each per year to get to work.

I would normally agree with that but listening to the radio ( LBC who are mainly right wing ) it does seem he was honest, compassionate etc.

Yeah, it was all his fault.... Not the money grabbing bastards who own the companies, all Bob Crow... Still, if that's the case, now he's dead fares will start to fall dramatically.

The irony is that it is the right wing press who will miss him most

Looking at those photos of him in Rio he was a heart attack waiting to happen.

He was very amusing on Have I got news for you. He sounded so much like Ronnie Barker in Porridge.

I really liked the quote re. Him living in a council house "There are just 9 council houses here. They are all on benefits except me...so who is the mug". I think I would have liked him

Maybe you saw a different prog to me, but on the one I saw I felt sorry for the guy as Murton and Hislop chewed him up and spit him out in little pieces while he just sat there and accepted it with a pathetic expression on his face, apparently having little or nothing to offer in return.

Can't say I know enough about him to comment fairly on his motives, ability or achievements, but time has eventually exposed the truth regarding quite a few other previously highly regarded union leaders, however with his sad and premature end we can only judge on his record to date, be it for better or for worse.

Well, history is being rewritten as we speak. He was now "loved and revered" by his members and the great and the good are falling over each other to praise him

if he was anything like the tossers I put up with for 2 years in Unite.........

but respect for a fallen comrade is normal in some spheres of life, just not so sure it is right for a union leader responsible for a large number of redundancies and massive payrises for people who think too much of their own ego's

I agree with you regarding Unite.
I've always got the impression they were simply hell bent on maximum disruption regardless of whether or not they had a justifiable case.

With regard to Crowe I don't know enough to pass any judgement, but with all due respect from what I did see and hear, he never came across to me as anything much different to most of the others in his line of business.
