Been much the same here, wind at storm force, rain lashing down and for a while this afternoon hailstones.....it looked a lot like snow across the valley on El Torcal.
I'm still waiting for a dry slot to get my washing done. :( |

Re: Is it ever going to stop raining?!?!?
here we currently have 14c in the sun in sheltered positions, but real chill factor if the wind catches you as you move round a corner.
blue sky now mostly visible with the few off white fluffy things moving around got some of the washing done, but not the normal Monday batch - according to the housekeeper  |

I did the same, but I only got the one load dry this afternoon instead of the normal two.

There was actually a S/H tumble drier standing unused in a corner for 5 years which my son was given.
Gave it away a few months ago, never used it once, no need for it, despite the bad Summer. I can assure you I would never dream of putting washing away without ensuring it was properly dried, aired and fresh, nothing I hate more than damp or foisty washing, not good for the health either. Has it never crossed your mind that folk have been successfully drying and airing washing in all sorts of conditions for hundreds or maybe thousands of years before electric dryers were invented ? It's not rocket science I can assure you. Yes I know many do use them so they can complete the wash in a hour instead of all day, but............ BTW what have rockets got to do with it ? ;) |

Yes it had crossed my mind hence I only wash my clothes in cold water using a scrubbing board and carbolic soap, no sir you will not find me using a machine as they (how did you put it ?) are extremly wasteful of electricity and cost a fourtune to run.
I wash our clothes by bashing them on rocks by the river it - saves water coming through the meter. I'd do the same with the kids if I had any. |

I didn't know things were quite that bad in Andalucia. Though come to think of it I saw folk down there still using those public wash-houses with big troughs and lots of fresh unmetered cold water running straight through them the last time I was down there. I'm sure there must still be one close at hand if you ask around Jimenato. :D |

If the power used to heat the home can also be utilised to finish airing the washing whenever necessary, then that suits me just fine. Meanwhile those who don't care a toss about their ever increasing electric bills or haven't a single moment to spare and nothing to occupy their minds and bodies whilst washing is drying naturally, are quite welcome to sit by their tumble dryers desperately waiting for each cycle to complete. |
