Thing is - I've been looking at Eurovision fan sites and the amount of anti UK venom that was spouted even before the song was known was astounding.

And it's a fact that the last 3 or 4 years as seen the UK, France, Spain, Germany all in the bottom positions whilst Russia, Ukraine et al just swap top marks......

Ok - Sweden/Norway or Spain/Portugal or Greece/Cyprus or even UK/Ireland have traditionally loved each other - though they all tended to balance out. But now you have several Eastern countries that simply vote each other and no one else.

Also, some of the anti Western comments made on the Eurovision sites now is quite disturbing. Eurovision was supposed to promote peace etc....but it now seems to be doing the opposite.

Yes - the music deserves ridicule - like Spain or Ireland this year - but I think if we can at least try to halt this anti Western voting problem it will help.

Thats why I call on UK ex Pats to vote UK - and, even use your UK sims to vote for Spain.

You are aware that the majority of western Europe see the Eurovision as more of a comedy than a competition right?

And part of that the appeal is how all neighbouring countries vote for one another.

I take it you have a vested interest in the UK entry? friend? family member?

I'm sorry to say but I think you are fighting a lost battle!

No vested interest at all.

I don't think there is any musical merit in Eurovision.
Yes - UK more than anyone see it as a joke.
I mainly watch for the comedy element.

But - the last few years are quite disturbing - its not getting funny anymore - the actual voting for the last 4/5 years is terribly biased - far worse than ever before.... Not the fun it once was. In fact, so bad that this year - they have even had to bring in a new system for the semi finals.

They have tried to address this by seperating certain countries into different semi finals. Yes - they have even split countries up! You can only vote in the semi final in which you appear (Big 4 of Spain, UK, France & Germany plus Serbia as hosts have been allocated a semi final to vote in - because they automatically get into final).

All well and good for the semi finals - but then everyone gets to vote in the final, so the problem arises again and back to square one.

Go look at Eurovision fan sites.....it's not just silly fun anymore.
Very sad.

I'd actually prefer for UK, France, Germany, Spain etc... to Stop taking part altogether truth be known.

Maybe it is time the `contest` was scrapped. Instead of promoting peace (as was said earlier) it is now promoting resentment and anger amongst some countries.

The best thing about Eurovision (and I never thought I'd see myself type this) is Terry Wogan.

Has anyone seen the Irish entry this year I believe its a glove puppet

Why so fussed it is the euro vision for gods sake ROFL it really matter that much ? Are you not on a much smaller scale without backhanders unless to RM's rear trying to get everyone to vote who does not usually vote ?

Eastern Europeans abusing the British no surprise is and everyday thing especially if you have a plasma in your bar down this part of southern Spain they will have your shutters off with a 4x4 or petrol bomb the place. Leave them to it with there points and bribes in a worthless competition what means SFA to the norm but a lot to the 1 % of weirdos out there.

Know what you mean there Mitzy, and I agree with you

Wasn't Jordan entered one year Sorry if I'm mistaken but I don't watch the show. I remember comments about a pink lycra outfit and a terrible voice If that is true then surely the UK are laughing with the rest of them
