If you get one with Vega OS instead of Android, it won't do what you want.

Is the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (newest gen) the one to get?
Interestingly it's on special over in the Canaries at a better price than the lower models.
True, the Select model is the one to stay away from due to a different OS.
Btw, is it a lot of work getting one of these set up for sports streaming if I choose to buy the Firestick and subscription separately rather than ordering both together so that the Firestick is ready to go?

I think the Cube was always going to be a step above but they seem to have left the OS at v7 whereas the new 4K Max stick has progressed to v8.

I was happily using a Firestick until much of what i was using it for was blocked. I switched back to a Mi Stick which i had before the Firestick the reason i had got the Firestick was although i could put ITVX on the Mi stick it wouldnt work. I have now managed to resolve that issue and find the Mi stick just as good as Firestick but advantage is it doesn't block programs like the Firestick.

What do you mean block programs? A lot of people use their firestick for dual purposes: UK free-to-air channel apps as well as iptv.
If you mean smart DNS then you can still set this up on a firestick, albeit not as quickly as on an Apple TV device. To me the ATV is the main device that I rely on but in case the proverbial hits the fan I also want to have something else as backup (or to take with me when travelling). The firestick seems ok but I need to fix the colours as the skin tones seem a bit off compared to other devices.

The problem with the firestick is that it's like those face-huggers in the Alien movies. Once you activate a device somewhere it will literally stick to it regardless of anything else, much like those creatures that like to bond lips with humans.
I literally took mine to the UK just to reset it and set it up all over again. Obviously it wasn't the main reason for my journey but since I was going anyway it made sense to get the job done right then and there.

I mainly use the Apple TV to stream from all four UK tv apps (BBC/ITV/C4/C5), but for IPTV I have both the firestick as well as the X96 Max+ Ultra android box (as it came with my IPTV subscription). I currently prefer the latter as skin-tone colours are a tad off when using the firestick, even though I'm using the same tv settings for both inputs.
So for the Mi stick there were two versions of itvx you could download? Were they both showing up in the same app store (sorry, not an Android user except for the tv box that I haven't explored much) or did you have to download it differenty?
