Every solution is good. The manual ones work really well as you simply cannot get things wrong. But as Bob mentioned any power cut (or just unplugging it when not in use) will mean having to set the time again, though luckily your on/off times will stay the same due to the pins.

The digital ones are fine too but I'd still skip ahead to the newer ones that you can control via an app. It's certainly easier to set them from your phone than it is to have to read the user manual and do everything via little buttons everywhere.
