If a woman got caught having sex before marriage 60 years ago in Spain then they got disowned by the family and would probably end up working as a prositute.
If a single woman got pregnant 35 years ago then it would cause a disgrace in the family and there may have been a cover up where the woman and her mum disappeared for 9 months and then came back with a "little sister"
If it happens now (and it rarely does) then it causes some embarrasment among the grandparents, but thats that.

Nothing to do with Islam and everything to do with Catholicism. You'll find it is the same in Italy

thats what it was like in all respects in the UK.
we still had sex but were always very very careful as we didnt want the "shame" associated with an unwanted pregnancy.

A pregnancy by a single woman. Doesnt happen that often in Spain compared to the UK and US. Although just like in the UK, young Spanish people dont get married much anymore but they have a very low rate of teenage pregnancies whether they were planned or accidental

I think you will find there are quite a lot of pregnancies amongst Spanish teenagers, it's just that they pay a visit to a private clinic to sort the problem out.

CM i think you are missing the point of my earlier posting (crossed in the post?)
Spain for example we know and have to some extent bemoaned, has vastly different benefits structure to the uk.
they take them in and then shuffle them on..to the uk, having been processed by another eu country makes them "acceptable".
the biggest problem for countries like uk is the economic migrant, especially those who claim asylum, £millions are spent on proving their ineligibility to support and assistance, by which time they have gone underground and disappeared.
yes i agree there are those brits who just will not get out of bed to work, but basic jsa is only about £69\week. with more and more ethnic employers around they are taking on only certain ethnic\nationalities knowing full well that with a carefully crafted pay policy they can get away with paying below NMW. many of these jobs are in the food growing\picking\preparation areas around me, whole sites speak a single non-english language.
BUT THE PRICE OF FOOD IS STILL RISING.
