Morning All
We have place in Spain that has electricity supplied by Iberdrola. The house can be empty for some months of the year with practically all the internal fuses turned off bar maybe one to have the odd light come on in the house at night. Despite all this the direct debit always fluctuates & we just cannot work it out.
In the UK you can pretty much pick and chose energy suppliers, is Spain like this ?
The house is in the Albacete region near Villena
thanks
PS - forgive me if posted in the wrong area, first time posting

Yes, you can change company very easily but they are all very similar. Look at http://sicompare.com and speak to James (in English)

Yes, this is quite normal.
Probably not worth the time and trouble of changing.

Also, check what Potencia you are contracted for...You might be paying too much standing charge.
I´ve lowered my Potencia to 4.4 and it saves quite a bit.

Before we moved over, the average chase from Iberdrola was around €30 a month, now we are here full time its been around €65.00 for the past 3 months. Its all down to the standing charge, the emergency charge and all the other bits.
I think if you have a holiday home its just something you have to factor in these costs.
Short of cutting the potency to the minimum I doubt you are going to save much.

Thanks for all your replies, it is one of those things we need to sort but our Spanish is poor so when we go into the local office its a complete no go. add to that the limited amount of time we get over in Spain, even less this year(4 days in January) it is differcult.

I think you will find that the offer probably only applies to a second home where the principal home is in Spain.
