We've had GMTV outside the house all morning filming fallen chimneys etc and the roads all blocked off. I don't know which one was worse. Fame at last for sunny Gainsborough.
Because we move to Spain on Sunday I am sleeping on a blow up mattress, that was interesting while the house was shaking! My daughter fell out of bed and could hardly walk across the landing. It sounded like a car had driven into the house when the chimneys came down. The worst was the eerie silence in between the rumble and then car alarms going.
Think its definatly time to go

No reports of any fatalities. Wost injury appears to be a young lad in Barnsley whose ceiling fell-in on him resulting in a fractured pelvis.
Some reports being made by 'witnesses' up and down the country are however, quite ludicrous
"My house shook so violently that I thought we were under attack by Al Quaeda"
"The house shook like it was made of paper"
Liars phoning up Sky News searching for their 15 minutes of fame, making stuff up just to increase their chances of being interviewed by Eammon Holmes

It was like living on a tube line for a moment. The best quote I have heard "Its a very British Earthquake, not much happened but we are all talking about it". Still very exciting.
"Like a scene from a horror movie thought I was being over took by ghosts" - Love this one

I posted this on the CE thread about a year ago. Seemed like a good time for a repost. Apologies to all fellow people from Essex.
BREAKING NEWS
An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter Scale hit in the early hours of Thursday.
Epicentre: South Ockendon, Essex.
The quake decimated the area causing approximately £30 worth of damage.
Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed.
Many locals were woken well before their giro arrived.
One resident - Tracy Sharon Smith, a 15-year-old mother of 5 said "It was such a shock, my little Chardonnay-Mercedes came running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two Tyler-Morgan and Bacardi-Breezer slept through it all. I was still shaking when I was watching Jeremy Kyle"
Martial law has not been necessary as incidents of looting, muggings and car crime have gone down.
The British Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 crates of Sunny Delight, Red Bull and Mayfair cigarettes to the area to help the stricken locals.
Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large quantities of personal belongings, including benefit books, jewellery from Elizabeth Duke and irreplaceable Bone China from Poundland.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster. Clothing is most sought after, items most needed include:
Fila or Burberry baseball caps
Kappa tracksuit tops (his and hers)
Tight fitting Adidas woven track suit bottoms (female)
White sport socks
Rockport boots
Any items from Primark, Ethel Austin or Matalan.
Food parcels may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same. Required foodstuffs include:
Microwave meals
Tins of baked beans
Ice cream
Cans of Tennents Super, White Lightning or Special Brew.
Remember - Just 22p buys a biro for filling in the compensation forms.
£2 buys chips, crisps and blue fizzy drinks for a family of 9
£5 will pay for a packet of Golden Virginia and a lighter to calm the nerves of those affected.
Breaking news
Rescue workers found a girl in the rubble smothered in claret
- 'Where are you bleeding from?' they asked
- "ROMFORD" said the girl, "woz that got to do wiv it?"

VERY FUNNY!!!!!!!!
We felt it in Leicester. Long rumble then a bang which might explain why some people thought it might be a crash...
Didn't wake my son up though
