Find a carpenter that does this sort of thing and have them made/fitted, I presume you want something like this :

710€ 12 months ago - fitted and stained.

That looks about right - simple design - looks nice and price slightly on the low side I would say.

I would go with reinforced aluminum doors that look like wood. They will cost you around €1300-€1500 fitted. But once fitted you can forget them.
Wooden front doors (especially south facing) will need rubbing down and varnishing every year.
There are quite a few aluminium carpenter firms in Estepa who will supply aluminium "wood effect" doors.

Friend of ours fits wood doors, but they develop huge cracks and gaps as the wood dries.

Here's a pic of our double front doors. We would suggest as above, go for aluminium made to look like woodgrain, or maybe reinforced upvc.
These doors were installed new back in 2005, since then they have been sanded and re-varnished twice a year since then. Even so the lower panels in both doors have repeatedly split and been filled, the filler falls out and leaves gaps. These are southwest facing so get the worst of all the summer sun and winter weather.
We haven't found anywhere that does reasonably priced doors, most places want 1000€ or more for a single in the Alicante region, God knows what a double would cost. We have the measurements and we can have a set made in the UK for around £600. Once we get a van organised for our permanent move they will be on the vehicle.

Can only agree with Aluminium, all our external doors and windows are Al.
The wooden doors shown in my previous post are what we consider the main doors but they are from the hallway into the main house not outside in the sun.

karmasue
If you do decide to go with the wooden doors there is a place on the industrial estate in Estepa that makes them.
I noticed them this morning while looking for something else.
The company is called Riberas. Go down past the new mercadona and take the second entrance into the estate, take the first left and then first right and they are on your right just on the corner.

Many thanks everyone. Your posts have really helped me. At the moment we have a metal door which the previous owners had fitted, but somethings happened to the lock and now it is impossible to line it up and the door will not close properly. We had to have a chain fitted until we get over to sort it out in a couple of weeks. We were going to go for the new wooden door because they look much better than the metal ones but on consideration we are not too sure now because we do face south and having read some of your posts it seems a bad idea to get the wooden ones. Phew! When we arrive this time we will certainly be paying a visit to the place in Estepa that Big Wheels mentioned. Thanks Big Wheels. We think that the lock went wonky after our road had been renovated because our neighbours garage door dropped after the road was finished too. Heres hoping we can get things sorted out as quick as possible!
