If you are doing major building works you will need to submit a full “projecto” to the planning department for building permission. That has to be prepared by an architect. They will easily give you the name of an architect who will act as an “aperajador ” who will oversee the build and make sure it meets the relevant building regulations and is built according to the original project.

Thanks Fred - I have had an architect visit who said that the work is not major and I don't need an architect. The real problem is that my Spanish is not good enough yet....if the project was in France I could cope with it myself. I really need someone who speaks English or French to help me co-ordinate everything.

Ask the architect for a recommendation.
