Default Do you know the Basingstoke Area?

Nothing to do with Spain but my daughter is moving back to the UK as OH has a new job in Basingstoke. They don´t know the area at all and are looking to rent in a village which has train connections into Basingstoke. Obviously looking at the internet there are several to choose from but with no personal knowledge of the area is one nicer than the other. If you know please let me know. Thanks.

The villages of Overton and Whitchurch are on the same train line to Basingstoke - Both are nice places - if you live near the centre - you could walk to the stations which would make it easier for travelling

I know Whitchurch better as we lived there for many years there are several pubs - couple of supermarkets and several other shops, the Silk Mill, Library, schools etc - they have their own website which may be worth a look http://thewhitchurchweb.org/

Overton I know from going there, as that is where my hairdresser was, also there is a fab curry house - they also have their own website - http://www.overtonvillage.com/

St Mary Bourne is also a nice looking village - again their website http://www.stmarybourne.org.uk - you would need to get the train from Whitchurch to Basingstoke - similarly Hurst Bourne Priors and Longparish are nice villages but again you would need to get to Whitchurch to get the train.
