Default Disposing of electrical items

Can anyone advise me of how one is supposed to dispose of large items and electrical goods. In England it's just a case of going to the re-cycling centre. Is there an equivilent in Spain. I want to get rid of an old telly (brought over from UK, so no re-sale value).

round here the simplest way is to just put the item next to the rubbish bins, within a couple of hours it will have disappeared.

To be honest that is what I've always done up to now. But I was wondering if there is correct ecologically minded means of disposing such items as television or fridge etc.

If you have a vehicle you can always take them to your local tip (Area Reciclaje). I know that ours has a specific bin for these sorts of things to be ecologically disposed of.
