dial up advice please
#1
This is on behalf of my father.
He's living in the Torrevieja area and has a phone line with Telephonica (after a long wait!). I have tried to get him to take broadband but he won't - principally on cost. He wants a dial up connection and I am asking for advice on this. Can anyone provide me with the information needed so that I can tell him over the phone what to do? Many thanks for any replies and apologies for going over old ground.

Then I guess he just needs to dial 1004
Waith till all the Spanish messages have been finished
An operator will come on the line
Ask for the english speaking department
He may have to try a few times because in busy periods an operator wont come on the line and it will just cut off.

Gonuts for Free is quite a good dial up. I used it before getting broadband.

I live in Torevieja & I have Dial up, my plan with the dreaded Telefonica is Tarifa Plana 24/7. It is about 20 + Euros a month.
It is slow but I can't afford ADSL. So it will have to do.

Thanks, is that through the 1004 number? Do you get access all the time for that price and no call charge? Was it complicated to set up?

You can be on the internet for as long as you like & no extra.
If you tell your dad to go to the Telefonica shop in Torrevieja & speak to Pilar, she speaks very good English & she will advise him what to do. I believe you can get a disk now with the different internet plans on it, it will be all in Spanish.
Our average phone bill is about 40 Euros a month

I can't remember how it was set up as it was over 4 years ago, I am sure I got someone who speaks Spanish to do it for me.
