Of course there is still the issue for expats in Spain who are deemed to be UK domiciled upon death - then HMRC will try to tax your worldwide assets no matter where you live (although there is an agreement in place between Spain and the UK which can be used to negate depending on circumstances)

What agreement is that? Do you have link please?

Its called unilateral relief.

Apparently Italy has decided to apply a 20% withholding tax to inward bank transfers unless it can be shown that the funds come from legitimate income. The details are sketchy and I can find nothing in English as yet, but it is being discussed on the Italy forum.
