Weigh the situation up having listened to ALL advice. Tread carefully. Beware rose tinted specs. The beaten track is there because people have used it. Going off it has advantages however bear in mind these may be outweighed by disadvantages.

Thank you for your feed back I think I must have miss lead you I didn't mean I was actually looking for "off the beaten track". That may come later but for the immediate future all I was hoping for was a reasonable area and not too expensive to rent some where.

What I am trying to avoid is finding myself in a concrete jungle with night clubs blearing out music all night.

Thankfully, it doesn't, although there is an awful lot of it! We always seem to avoid the majority of it whenever we visit, but it just seems that is what a lot of expats are looking for. Get away from the coastal areas and mainly it's fine.

[QUOTE=daveupsticks;9731680]Hi Lionda
I agree with you and yes we will be renting but from the info I am getting from the renting sites it seems that most properties are geared up for holiday rental so this is why it looks like I need to visit an area which sounds to be what we feel good and comfortable with. I don't think we will be buying unless we come across a really cheap place off the beaten track somewhere.
Thank you for your input its much appreciated
kind regards Dave[/]

I get all the property info I need from a great site called www.thinkspain.com ( I think that's right)..

By the way I am here at last on my first house sit... I'm in Alhama de Murcia and I'm loving it. xxx

it's not new - it has been around for years

last time I looked half the businesses listed for my town had gone out of business

eta - in fact I couldn't resist looking just now - could be more than half in fact

one particular premises is listed under 2 categories, 2 different businesses, one of which took the premises after the first...........the premises has changed hands again since then & even that one has closed down

another closed down nearly 2 years ago

Hi Lynnxa.. don't believe I thought it was new but I log in now and again looking for property to rent... there are quite a few on there as duplicates as you say, I've also found that when I have applied for details on rentals that the property has been taken... why don't they update and take down those ones, it would make the task of finding somewhere easier (and less disappointing) I was beginning to wonder if Spain didn't want me

sorry - for some reason I thought you said a great new site - can only put the fact that I thought you wrote that when you clearly didn't to only 1 cup of coffee at that point in the day

it really isn't the best site - just not updated regularly enough as I see you have found for yourself

they actually have a bar listed for sale there which has changed hands since that listing & is for sale again several years later

they also state that they are 'sole agents' - good job that isn't true either

for rentals you're much better of with the likes of kyero, idealista & enalquiler to name just 3
