Default DAB radio

Excuse my ignorance but does DAB radio exist in Spain and if yes will a radio purchased in the UK work in Spain?

Thanks in advance.

Actually Madrid and Barcelona have DAB. I can pick up around 20 stations in my car here in BCN.

Your freeview box should pick up a fair number of digital radio stations. It's not quite the same thing, I know, but shows that radio stations ARE broadcast on digital signals.

Sightly off topic, but some years back I bought an internet radio. I love it - takes a while to set up and when it switches ont akes a while to connect to the wifi but allows you to listen to digital quality music from all over the world. There are loads on Amazon, I think mine is a hama.

I've got a couple of internet radios, they are Grundig Sonoclocks which I have in my bathroom and kitchen. Great thing about these units is that they fit underneath units like cabinets (always amuses my wife that I can't go into the bathroom without music or speech playing!). I accept though that they are not portable. They also have FM radio and line in and I have Apple Airport Expresses plugged in so I can send audio from my devices to the Grundig units.
Most annoying thing though is when my ISP drops out my internet!! Will be listening to something like the Today programme in the morning and in the middle of an interesting item, off it goes. Comes back and item finished. Grrrrrrr!! It's then that I wish I was listening back in the UK on FM.
Also have my iPad and iPod with BBC radio app audio from which I can send to portable Bluetooth speaker so I can have it with me anywhere around the house and in the garden.
Apologies off topic re' DAB, but as both Grundig units have DAB, one of the first things I did was to search for DAB stations before I realised I can't receive any where I am!!

Are you sure that your Internet connection has dropped out? It happens to me frequently but it is the connection to the Internet server that drops out or it is buffering.

I totally agree internet radio is fantastic, I was looking at all the radio stations available through the internet and there are literally thousands! I've had my "Pure" radio for several years and never needed any other.

Could be buffering Fred, but getting so many internet drop outs recently, it could be either!
Thanks.

I bought top of range Roberts digital radio and brought it with me when I came 3 years ago and it will not pick up any stations. Contacted maker and it turns out frequencies are different, so no UK digital radio will not work over here, as it is preset to wrong frequency. I have to stick to VHF. I have not really noticed abundance of digital radios here. I was told that the Spanish lag behind rest of Europe in this broadcasting. you may know different.

We have an internet Now TV box (for tv obviously) with the Tunein radio app installed it provides over 100,000 radio stations, absolutely brilliant, use it all the time.

Little known fact that Spain played a huge part in creating DAB but the consumers refused to pay for the radios loving their FM , as a FM radio cost peanuts then.

So little known that I find no reference to any part Spain played in its development!
Source for this assertion please?

You will need DAB 2 in Europe, The UK are still using DAB 1.
