What would be the best areas to settle around spain that have good access to cycling and outdoor activities not too close to the coast, I have been looking around the costa blanca south region but cant seem to find much info Thanks in advance

Cycling is a popular pursuit throughout Spain; having loads of space and reasonable roads helps. Road racing or off-road mountain biking, plenty of routes, opportunities and clubs are about, ex-pat and Spanish.

If you like the flat, then the Segura or Hondon Valley in the Costa Blanca south has some scenic routes wending its way inland, or if you prefer the climbs or off road then north of Alicante in the Aitana mountains is pretty spectacular with little traffic, and about 15/20 miles from the coast.

Plenty of outdoor activities available; swimming, wind surfing, hang gliding, tennis, hiking, padel, hunting, fishing etc etc etc. Plenty indoor too eg badminton, table tennis etc. etc. Whatever floats your particular boat !

Does it have to be along the costas? Both the Basque country and Aragon have lots of cycling and outdoor activities. Spoilt for mountains really. And we don't get regular blistering 40C, except the odd occasion.

I used to live close to Algorfa and it is a very pleasant area for road cycling. I found some lovely routes there, with the choice of either hilly or flat scenic rides. Not too much traffic and I developed a route round a reservoir that had quite rolling parts.

Same here in Asturias. Someone told me it is the best part of Spain for cycling, both road and mountain

Also great for hiking, mountaineering and kayaking

To be fair, a lot of Spain is great for these things except they are difficult in the centre and South in the middle of Summer, and difficult in the North in the middle of winter

That's the problem CM, everyone is just focused on Costa Blanca
Even in Girona plenty of cycling.
