and as with all areas there are some good and some not so....our friend (Spanish) lives in Torrevieja and its nothing like what scenes/stories you see in the news, its a very Spanish area with hardly any "foreigners" I was very surprised when we visited her

Every time that is spoken of the racism in Spain, seems that the racism is invention of the Spaniards, that the racism is only and exclusive of Spain, when is a problem of all the world, when ultra-right politics doesn't exist as in Switzerland nor we have laws so hard as the Italians. I don't know that problems of racism you have or you have seen. I can speak to you of the racism in UK or USA (countries that accuse of racism to Spain)? In USA, for example, until three decades ago a black could not travel nor in a bus

Are you saying that they were corrupt policemen? How you do know that there is not corruption in United Kingdom? Or will it be that here there is corruption because we take out more the " trapos sucios " (dirty cloths) than other countries? I don't deny that there is corruption in my country, but we also have answers to the corruption, and we react judicially when there are cases of corruption. I don't know which is your case but with the corruption in Spain, happens same with the racism, it is not our invention. Unfortunately it is installed in all the societies

We cannot generalize. All the englishmen you are " hooligans "? Spain is not perfect, but the rest of the world is not Disneyworld
Really ...that was only part of what i said...You have chosen the most inflammatory part of my comment...if police practice racism in the UK ...and i am sure they do!...you are able to pursue it...there are channels and there are people there to help you...!

Try that in Spain...see how far you get...and how long it would take you.

My problem was my neigbour who owned the Peugeot garage in the town and he didn't like us from the moment we moved in. He also didn't like our dogs... so that was it... merely a matter of time....

In the UK if there is a neighbours dispute the police would try and mediate first ... the Spanish police....it's seize first...ask questions later....don't make me laugh...no matter how you phrase it....they are not the same quality!

I love spain by the way

And crime is everywhere...:curse:

Hi,
I feel compelled to throw in my two euro worth into this debate.

I bought a place in good old Torre in the year 2000, it was so cheap then less than half price of CDS, I soon found out why.

Even a piso piloto had been robbed on the day we visited, that should have been a warning!

to cut a long story short I saw and heard so much crime it was more than scary, we were sometimes prisoners in our "cage" as this is what it felt like with bars everywhere.

A lot of the ex pats where in denial, and others were simply ignorant of goings on, but slowly they all learned.

Sadly there are many international undesirables there as well as home grown talent!

I sold up in 2004 and moved to CDS where the atmosphere alone is so different, my urb has not seen a crime in 10 years, the only crime we have encountered via our renters has been a camera and phone nicked from bag under a bench on the front.

there is petty crime here and some mafia crime, which i have never seen but they tend to kill each other anyway.

I feel totally safe and chilled. I would say the feeling is probably amplified in the campo.

Salud
LPH

And who it controls to the british Media when insults to an all country calling racist? Who controls all the English fans when they insult Fernando Alonso with racist insults? (I won't reproduce the insults, is of shame). Do you have the authentic certainty that everything is controlled in United Kingdom? The habit of making the noise of a monkey in the stadiums, when a black player appears, it is of UK. I don't know if it will follow this habit in UK, but I want to remember it

I don't really know the problem with your dogs, but you should also understand that there are people to which he doesn't like the dogs. I adore the dogs, maybe with me you would not have problems. Although I don't know how are your dogs, how you have educated them.....I like dogs a lot, but if your dogs are hooligans, then I won't like so much. I see a program about how educating the dogs. You can see it in channel Cuatro, in Saturdays and Sundays, starting of 11:30 am or 12:00 pm, approximately. It is in United Kingdom, and I don't know how will be there the dogs, but they seem the true owners of the houses, not people. Although I believe that more than to educate the dogs, the educator (in this case is a woman) it could begin educating to the people, the owners of the dogs, because I don't find very normal to cook for the dogs as if they were people, among other craziness

It is not the same quality? What is for you quality? That some policemen have not mediated in your problem, or that you have a neighbor that didn't tolerate your dogs, does it mean that all the people are of this way? The quality is many things, my friend. I could wonder to you if it is true what I have listened that the british get angry, mainly in their country, when foreigner people don't ask or speak in their language. And they have told me that this is true. And this has confirmed it to me until British citizens. I believe that there will be of everything. Then who has more quality than who? You don't believe that there is of everything in the Vineyard of God? We cannot generalize...

That's not true. Neighbours disputes are civil, and unless a crime is committed the police do not get involved.

I don't generalize. At least, I try not to generalize. In fact, I have said that there is of everything

I have made the error of not putting " some ". But I refute what I have said, I don't like to generalize

You don't offend for that that I spoken of the Media of your country. I have read very offensive things. But a thing I tell you: I don't make favoritisms. When something I don't like, I say it, although it is of Spain (as our judicial system)
