We don't have much oleander up here. Too hot in summer and much too cold in winter (had -14C one winter). We can't grow citrus fruit either and it is the only place we have lived in over 40 years of marriage I have not been able to keep mint alive more than 1 year. Previously I have had trouble containing mint but up here, no good.
Where we last lived in the UK (before moving over permanently) we had to filter all the water before using for cooking and tea making. The water went scummy when boiled otherwise. We also bought bottled water for drinking. Still do over here as bottled water is much cheaper than the UK but I have drunk the local tap water with no ill effect.
