Crikey - Don't drink the water!

http://www.typicallyspanish.com/news...le_31689.shtml

Police now believe that Abdellatif Aoulad Chilba, who is married to a Spanish woman, was planning to poison the water in tourist complexes in the area. It has been revealed that a phone call he made to his wife, who lives in Girona, on the 12th of this month, sounded as if it was a goodbye.

I'm glad the police/security are keeping an eye out for this type of attack.

We live inland and high in the mountains. I was told some years ago not to drink water by the local bar owner. He saw us having a drink in our courtyard which he incorrectly thought was a G&T. When we said it was agua he told us not to drink it. His reason he explained was that dogs drink water and they do not live long. He seemed to be serious too.

We do the same, and haven't suffered any ill effects after 5 years. I am of the opinion that a few germs are actually good for you (draw the line at poison, though!).

I drink the water from the tap, and am of the opinion that not doing so suggests all manner of things - but all about me, not the water!

I don't drink the water from the tap, I can taste the chemicals in there and there is also too much lime.

We get our drinking water from a Fuente at the highest point above town, we aren't daft...living in the campo we know what ends up in it further down.

Hi

I drink the water from the tap and know what it contains as I had a sample analysed. High in salt, cal, and nitrates. above recommendations in feaces and something else. But I had been drinking it for seven years!

I don´t drink the water because there are too many cess pits around, plus it tastes bloody awful. I love my tea and tend to use Nestle water as it leaves the kettle without any cal.

Totally agree, our water is safe but foul tasting we use it for cooking but bottled water for tea and coffee. Saying that our water in Eastbourne was poor and if drunk straight from the tap was like drinking bleach although if left overnight was ok.

Probably all those dead oleander leaves in the water that have killed the dogs.Just a suggestion but feasible.

Here, if I leave a glass of our well water overnight, it tastes just as good in the morning. In the UK, if I left a glass of tapwater out overnight it tasted so foul as to be undrinkable. Not bleach taste, it was as tho something had died in it.

I suspect that would be true of most tap water.
