Actually many Spaniards classify themselves like that. My wife says she is Asturian first, European second and Spanish third

Basically right wingers are pro-Spain and left wingers are anti-Spain

Let's hope this quest for independence rubs off on to the Scottish voters.

Well yes, obviously when over one third of people residing in Cataluna are Andalucian and Murcian then this is a problem for Catalans as it dilutes their national identity

Many Andalucian families dont want to speak Catalan even if they have been in Catalunya for 3 generations. Although some have no problem with that of course

This has absolutely nothing to do with Europe and free movement and everything to do with a national and cultural identity

Again Cricketman, this just doesn´t hold water.
Population of Catalonia is approx 7.5mil. Approx 5.5mil in Barcelona.
Approx 12% of this are non Spanish.
If what you say is true, "the influx of millions of Andalucians and Murcians", there is hardly any room for you Catalan???
And yes, this has everything to do with Europe

As for the Glasgow sides joining the English league, I reckon they and their fans would be about as welcome as a fart in a perfume shop.

Well the Glasgow sides have been talking about joining the English leagues on and off for many years.

Many English are starting to look upon the prospect of Scottish Independence as an opportunity rather than a problem which is why I use the phrase 'England gets independence'. It is envisaged that much Scottish commerce might move south if such a thing were to happen - why not the top Scottish football clubs? I think the best of Scotland moving south would probably be welcomed with open arms.

Yes, it's strange that Scotland, despite the initial enthusiasm for independence, is cooling a bit, when most English I've seen commenting either don't care a jot or would love to see them get it. Personally, it they want it, "¡Que se vayan!" Fatboy Salmond is convinced they'll be better off, a bit like when he wanted to join the Arch of Prosperity (Ireland, Iceland and Norway), we all know what happened to two of them.

Hope that doesn't include the their football fans, we've only just got our own lot under control.

The Scots fans generally come over the border with the drunken well pissed intention of overturning 500 years of history that doesn't quite meet with their approval.

Thank you for the budget information.

My figure of €24 Billion and yours of nearly €30 billion is because your figure includes central government spending, like foreign policy which is fair enough. It would be nice to know how much each region takes in taxes as well.

Cataluña is very beautiful, has sea, has a lot of monuments and amazing artwork, has enough writers, painters, artists to invent others no-catalans so inventing other history that doesnt have anything to be with the reallity has not worth

I keep on thinking that the most "catalanistas" are the ones that are not born in Cataluña.

So, if they get the independence, If they get enough votes to get it, really, good for them
The reason for the animosity from the Catalans is because they are at last being able to teach their own history in school.

We British understand full well what happened under the Nazi Gestapo in Europe for 3,4 or even 5 years. Catalunya is waking up to what happened for 40 or so years under Franco. The body pits are still being excavated.

But it wasn't only under Franco that the Catalans were repressed, it has been going on for centuries.

For at least a century, Catalunya with a thriving textile industry, was not allowed to trade with the Americas. Can you imagine London banning Manchester from trading with America ?
