also included were the anti flea drops that they put on because they insisted she was riddled with fleas
she didn't have any when she went in

Jenny, we went to the same vet (at least I'm sure it will be) and were quoted that for our Tom cat and slightly more for the female.

I had 1 female and four toms, I got a deal with our local vet who did 2 free. Might be worth asking as you have 2 if they will give you a discount. Can only ask.

I found out that one of my local builders yards had two sets of prices, one for the locals and a much higher one for everyone else,(apart from the usual trade discounts).

you're not being ripped off. thats about the correct price. we know a spanish vet, who told us that it costs him about €100 just for the equipment he needs to do a female cat.

takes about 15 -20 mins to spay a female cat. In my vets it £56.00 for a female cat and £48.00 for a male, and we are not the cheapest in the area

Re: Costs of cat spaying
an english girl asked us to find out as she had been quoted €120 by the local vet, her problem was that she had 4 females and couldnt afford almost 500 euros. i asked our vet who confirmed that the price was about right, so i then spoke to the guy we know, who told me what i stated.
so, no i'm not talking bolloks.

Didn't say you were talking Bollocks, the vet was!!!
Someone had said to ask the vet for Spanish prices not Uk, I was just trying to give a comparison! Everyone I';ve spoken to in Spain about vets have said how much cheaper they are, and i have to agree.. Think the origional poster is being ripped off!

I agree. For an example of prices in Spain a friend recently had a major problem with their cat. The local vet (whose prices I quoted) sent them to a specialist vet in Malaga for an MRI scan. Including a 30 minute consultation the cost was 90€.
