The Costa 'is it raining there' thread....

Costa Blanca and it's been freezing and raining all day. However...we are not having it anywhere near as bad as the Uk so can't complain. Just as an example of the temperature, I have been wearing a tshirt under a jumper with a body warmer, leather coat, scarf and gloves with jeans and boots. Yet in the summer I just want to walk around naked....but can't 'cos I would frighten the neighbours

If it didn't rain Spain would really be in trouble, where would it get water for all those golf courses and hotel pools?

Well, I was told this has been the wettest and coldest winter for a very long time. Last year 1st of January I was sitting on the beach eating tapas in my shirt sleeves.

Well....it's been lovely hot and sunny today. Drove into Benidorm and although it was VERY breezy on the coast it was warm and sunny and we had a lovely day out

Typical! It p'd down most of the day yesterday apart from a bit of beautiful blue sky in the morning to lull us into a false sense of security. Landslip on the road into the village, car up to its windows in mud & water in a nearby riverbed (where incidentally Junta workmen were releasing debris from the outflow to allow water out of a dam
) and it's p'ing again as I sit here.

Still as we keep on saying, we need it

I've just looked out of the window in the other direction - clouds heading this way off the sea & a red sky
doesn't bode well, does it

Woodman delivered yesterday - good news! Except that was when the sky was relatively clear & I failed to do what every sensible person should do & bring some (dry) wood inside heaped up to the rafters...... instead of which I procrastinated. Bad move
even tho' I covered the heap with plastic, it's just toooo nasty to go & fetch any in!!
Our track (about 1 in 3 or worse in places) is now mostly various tributary streams for the gushing torrent way down in the abyss that is the arroyo!!!!
Even Sebastian (woodman) seemed flabbergasted that we've had 'winter' since November & now it's Feb, he said Dec/Jan was the norm. Oh well c'est la vie a ce moment - don't know the equivalent in Spanish!
