Got back from CE earlier in the week, after a short break of 5 days and have to say the weather was outstanding. Some days it was up in the early 30's, just like the summer months. How lucky we are to have bought in an area with such great surroundings and weather like that in October!!
Although a few restaurants had closed for winter (not many) Ayamonte was still very busy during the day and night. La Antilla was also fully functional and still very busy as well, so were Monte Gordo, Isla Christina and Isla Canella marina (Canella Beach bars were mostly closed though).
The club house now has a good Tapas menu, good portions and wonderful meatballs!!. And as ever the service was prompt and polite.
Off to book some more flights up now...

Has anyone had their boiler or aircon serviced yet, as we would like our done at some stage. Our boiler is an Aspen and the Aircon unit is a concealed one locate above the false ceiling in the shower room. If anyone can recommend a reliable person or company please let us know!!
We were also thinking of installing a card system to control the usage of the aircon, whereby it can only be switched on when the card is inserted. That way we can offer aircon/heating as an extra option for renters. Maybe there is a unit which can replace the standard thermostat on the wall or sit along side it. Any thoughts welcome...

Hi John and Lyn, we had our boiler serviced a couple of months ago by the Gas Natural service engineer. We didn't have to make an appointment it was just done automatically and it cost about 45 Euro and as he left he said he would come again in 5 years. I asked Francisco our concierge if this was normal and he told us it was except that its cheaper in Ayamonte as they don't have mains gas yet. Regards Bryony

Hi, first of all an apology moh has told me it was not a service but a safety inspection, obviously being a mere woman I don't know the difference. We weren't contacted by them individually but a notice was put up in our block (by Gas Natural) saying an engineer would be calling between stated times on a particular day. Regards Bryony

I know this is an old story HERE, but it is still rife in Spain and loads of people are still being caught by dodgy gasmen.
They have sign written vans, named overalls, id cards and official looking paperwork.

If you're thinking of the same gadget that some hotels use, whereby the a/con only works when the card is inserted into a slot. I wouldn't bother.
You only need something thin enough (bit of cardboard etc) pushed in the slot to trip the switch, for the a/con to work without the "official" card

They con a lot of holiday makers and new arrivals here, telling them the work has to be done immediately and for them to get the landlord to re-imburse them for the payment.
