Where are you going to rent it? There is a place in Punta del Moral and if you rented there you could go to CE by bicycle. There are a lot of people who do this way. Try it!!

Boys, boys, boys.

This is obviously a personal thing, and should be taken elsewhere. This thread is full of good natured and friendly people sharing information. The vast majority of contributors are positive, and we don't rise to the bait even when ill mannered folk feel the need to slag off our homes, purchased with our hard earned cash.

Playground squabbles are best ignored, which is why I didn't get involved earlier. It was tempting to let you carry on as you are doing such a good job of making yourselves look rather silly, but the juvenile bickering about this is a touch irritating, and I would like to ask you to carry this one somewhere else please.

Kindest regards to all,

Karen

Well said Karen. I'm sure most other contributors to this site will agree with your sentiments. Regards Bryony.

Forgive me, but there is a little bit of humour here. Me, personally, I'd be up in arms if I'd ever been in such a state as to have to buy on Esuri only to find it turning into a council estate.

Slate me if you will, but give me this moment of mirth, please!!!:rofl:

This may be my first post, but I am certainly not new to this or the previous Costa Esuri threads.

The reason I have felt compelled to post, is to ask a question.

What exactly is your beef with Costa Esuri? It seems a little odd that the editor of an English speaking provincial newspaper should seek to insult and/or alienate a sizeable amount of the readership of that newspaper with petty jibes at every opportunity. At the end of the day, without the influx of expats to the area, you probably wouldn't have a job.

I think it is a shame that the previous poster felt incensed enough to bring up the attack you suffered in Seville. But I suppose if someone has a propensity for insulting people, then these things may happen.

That would be cycling "up" hill, marisol.:p I think I might die.
Nonetheless, I'll walk over to RagoII, and check out the business there (bicycle tours?).

welcome, Laguna. Please continue posting.
In my opinion, what goes around, comes around.
What with this being a public forum, etc. everything needs to be taken with a pinch of salt (in the form of a margarita, please.)

Carol

Thanks for the welcome Carol. I only get time to read this, and some of the other threads on the forum, at weekends. But now I've broken my duck as it were, I shall certainly continue posting.

FA Cup final.

Anyone up for lunch, beers and watching of the FA Cup final?

I presume it will be on at the club house?

I'm hoping for Barnsley V West Brom to restore my faith in football. Maybe it is a game and not just about money?

Anyhow, I'll be there, any takers?

Welcome Laguna,

You bring up many points which I'll attempt to answer.

Firstly, on a public forum as this I post under an assumed name, as do many. There are various reasons for this and each will no doubt have their own. When I post on here as Fortaleza I do so as a free agent, with views and opinions just like anybody else on here. If I was to post on here in my full name or as The Oracle Editor or similar, then that luxury of free speech would be taken away. I was posting on here as Fortaleza long before anyone knew who I was or before taking up editorship of The Oracle. A small group of people on here knew, mainly as I chose to tell them, and sometimes I dropped hints to known posters so that they could guess for themselves. But until very recently, that relative anonimity was broken so that everyone on here it seems now knows who I am. I'm fine with that but I'm not going to censor what I say. I could go the cowards route and take up another nickename but why bother. When I have my editors hat on I have a number of factors to take into consideration and of course the type of jokey comments on here would have no place in any real newspaper.

Secondly, I appreciate you are new here and maybe don't know some of the history, but over time several people on here have genuinely tried to give advice or help but we were knocked back, even abused for doing so. Yes, there was a lot of banter - that is the nature of Forums.

In this case, it was a way of poking fun at the contributors on here who have given people who've tried to help a hard time in the past. It was amusing to pick up what is essentially a non-story and obviously exaggerate it (look at the language used!) - well obvious to a lot of people anyway.

I don't see how calling CE a council estate insults you or anyone for that matter.

Anyway have fun posting

Well here goes.

There is clearly an issue of double standards here. Forteleza; sure speak as you see fit, but don't take us for mugs.

For what ever reason many of us purchased on CE a second home for holidays etc. We did not buy a second home on a social housing project....you seem to get some pleasure from your posts sniping at the possible position many us may now be in.

All we can hope for is consistencey; there is much posted on here that is valid and news worthy. The Fadesa finance problem, the electricity, the many complaints against Fadesa...all real and not imagined....yet nothing in the Oracle....why....a free press? or a free press so long as you do not advertise in the Oracle.....go on do an article on the CE problems....or will the Conforta adverts be pulled....seems like sensorship to me.

I guess the Oracle is a business at the end of the day, has to make money to continue to be published, and has many things to take in to consideration with its articles regarding all kinds of things like legal issues etc etc.

Fortelaza's comments on here I presume are totally his own and although legalities and suchlike are always an issue on here, not in the same way as a published newspaper.

I hasten to add I know nothing about the Oracle, and only about CE from what I read on here :) ...... Just an observation

I think this is being taken far to seriously. the suggestion by Fortaleza that CE is to become a social housing project is a tease designed to get us all hot under the collar. DONT we are talking 47 houses here out of 6000. The income level required under the scheme is €450 a month for 7 years, for the Spanish that means a stable contracted job at a reasonably senior level such as teacher, nurse, police person, fire person etc. SO just laugh along with Fortaleza and he will get on to the next job which should be reporting what happened at the plenary session of council.

If you saw the Guardiana the last paper that Fortaleza edited you would know that he has in the past campaigned against perceived corruption in the Notarial service and lack of action by Fadesa on many points. I am sure he will pick up on the financial woes of MF in the next edition and he is welcome to use my piece on the reasons why the electrickery is not available all across the site which incidentally absolves Fadesa of direct blame at this stage it is between Endesa and the gas company.

Yorkshire - you take the issue far too seriously. The Oracle, under my stewardship, has featured the Fadesa problem - Conforta or no Conforta. You have really blown "CE Problems" out of all proportion. As I, and many others like me have tried to tell the brick wall on this thread, there is a major problem in that a lack of knowledge about how things are done here in terms of developer-to-buyer and you seem to want to lay the blame for a lot of things at the door of Fadesa when in reality they are just doing what they do in other areas and this is known. Whether you agree with or not is irrelevant. I don't agree with French people scoffing snails all day long but who am I to tell tham that is wrong??? What you also forget that with a paper that currently has a circulation of 14,000 (8,000 in Huelva, 6000 in Cadiz and rising), I cannot focus all the paper's attention on a handful of houses in one development. I have - as posted on here for your perusal - carried legitimate stories about the case. Tittle tattle and gripes from owners belong on a blog or forum, which thankfully, this site does very well.

Yes it is a business but there is a very clear understanding between me and the owner that responsible editorial takes precedence over advertising and if we have to lose an advertiser in order to expose wrongdoing I have the complete 100% backing of the board.

Thank you John and Kath for stating (the bleedin') obvious to those who clearly missed it. It's amazing that when you put out the bait how many get reeled in.

BTW really not much to report from the session, BUT today it seems that an eternal enemy of the last Mayor (ahem...less said the better!!!) is now asking for him to be consulted on various issues. You gotta love this town!!!!
