Would second recommendation for Casa Vincente, also look on the corner opp Church...(up the hill from Mateos), where we have had excellent Tapas on a couple of occasions.

Brizey/Chris/David,
Thanks for the recommendations.

I would second Quintapena. It is always full of locals and the price is right. Lovely atmosphere

I went with 4 others last October . We had an lovely meal which we could not finish inc wine and I believe the bill was about 10e each

They have a menu in English but did not offer this straight away. The one criticism we had was that they seemed to serve all the dishes with chips. Probably because we are Brits.

OK, I know the same question (restaurants) has been posed many times before and I have taken note of some of the responses, but here goes anyway. Coming over on Thursday for a few days golf with three friends. We plan to go to O Infante one night, Jags for a ruby another. Now I am looking for three more suggestions where we will find good food and some life. I guess that probably rules out Isla Canela as I gather it can be pretty dead this time of year. looking for one fish resto and a good tapas bar.
What's dinner like at the golf club and is there any atmosphere?
As mentioned, sorry to ask the same question but it seems that the quality can change from time to time, so looking for recent experience.
Thanks all.

Andy,

If you want a lively night myself and three friends are also over playing golf and will be in Jags on Friday night to hopefully watch Forest beat Derby in the FA cup.

Hi Tony,

I am at CE from Thursday to Sunday with 5 friends, playing Quinta Do Vale Thursday, El Rompido Friday, CE West Sat Morning and CE East Sat afternoon (against a CE 'Home' Team of six), so I hope our paths cross again. Already PM'd AndyS, and expect to see him.

Tony,
We plan to be in Jags Sat night for a meal but may well pop in for a beer on Friday. Are you on the early Easyjet flight out of Gatwick tomorrow, by any chance?

Another new Ryanair route has just been announced. FARO to BOURNEMOUTH commences on 31st March flying on Tuesdays. Some of the Bournemouth-Faro flights are priced at 10 pounds all in (10kg hand luggage only). Be quick!

With the new road bridge up river between El Granado and Pomarao due to open soon Beja will become our nearest airport. Faro will still be rather nearer for Esurians but at least Beja may open up some new route possibilities. The car parking might be cheaper too.

We walked over the new road bridge last week, along with dozens of Spaniards. The 12km road west from El Granado is now surfaced right up to the bridge but the bridge itself looks a couple more weeks from completion. No doubt there will be some appropriate celebrations when it does finally open! Prices in the bar at Pomarao are a bargain; white coffee 0,50€, decent glass of tinto 0,60€ and a 0.33cl bottle of Sagres 0,70€. Hope for the locals sake prices don't rocket once the bridge opens.

Interesting post, del.Alemendro. Many thanks (karma sent).

For me the 2 best tapas in town are Casa Vincente (Next to Santander - Probably a bit cold this time of year) or Quitapenna (not sure on spelling) opposite the El Choco. Or try Luis's place over the river!

Andy

I would second David's suggestions. Also we have never had a bad (proper not tapas) meal in Meson El Choco (on opposite corner from Quitapena), The tapas bar mentioned by Brizey is I think Bar Cortada, also very good. Another good one is La Puerta Ancha on Laguna Square, almost opposite the Banco D'Andalucia. Hope you have a lovely break.

Also don´t miss out on a meal at La Rana, just outside of town direction Isla Canela.

And Bar A3 (El Bar de Manolo) does superb food/Tapas... located in the Marina Isla Canela. Have a look: http://www.esuritours.com/3dtour/bara3/bara3.html

Hi

We have recently been notified that our Albatros Golf phase 2 apartment is ready and would be grateful for any advice on snagging reports. We hope to visit the apartment Feb half term - can anyone recommend a company to help us?

Also if anyone has up to date photos of the Albatros complex would be really great to have a look at them!
