We were walking through the shopping area in Seville last June when we heard a great commotion in front of us. A guy came running past us with four baton wielding security men in pursuit. They caught him after about fifty metres and proceeded to batter him on the floor with the batons before frogmarching him back to the store he had been shoplifting from. Harsh but fair retribution I feel. I hope and assume the pickpockets get the same treatment if caught.

They are worried about trying to park in Seville and would prefer to drive to Huelva train station, park and get the train from there. There is a train that apparently goes early in the morning. Just wondered if anyone else has travelled to Seville this way. They have got driving directions from the internet, but they are wondering. 1. Is the train station easy to find in Huelva on a first visit? 2. Is there parking at the station and if so any idea how much for the day? 3. Any other hints or tips? They have been advised that it would be much quicker to just drive up the motorway to seville, but as mentioned just are worried about parking and really want to take the train. Appreciate any advice.

Drive to Sevilla and park underneath the bus station. Not full, and right beside the river.

We went by bus on our first visit to Seville just to get our bearings of the city.
It's probable not a bad idea, god knows how you would find away out of the streets behind the Cathedral if you got lost in a car.
It's a nice journey the buses themselves are superb & run on time.
Just like London ( you should try it some time Mr Livingstone))
The only thing we found the last bus back was quite early so you have no where enough time to explore the magnificent sites.
Still think ahead when the better half finds all those designer shops & the plastic friend comes out the purse, it's a good time to say hurry up the last bus leaves in 20 minutes

Friends of ours did the overnight trip by bus.. left Ayamonte at 12 , got to Seville at 2, stayed in a cheap hotel and came back the next day into Ayamonte for 6....

Or you can get organised day trips to seville by coach leaves early and returns late, Ive seen them advertised at Isla Canela Marina but more so in Monte Gordo, Id imagine if you ask them nicely they would pick you up near junction 131

In my view there is a limited downside risk. Endesa will want to suppply (there is money in it for them!) and in the very worst case the RVA-1 householders could club together to hire the generators on a permanent basis. Who knows - this may be cheaper than mains!

Hi JS&SS,

tyntub has just posted this on the Hondon thread. You learn something every day on expats thanks to tyntub for the research.

"Licences of first occupation have been issued by the BUILDER not by the Town Hall, through a procedure known as Administrative Silence - which is effectively letting people move in on a legal technicality. Habitation certificates have also NOT been issued in most cases, because they require a licence of first occupation AND services to be connected, which in most cases are not present.

What was news to me was that the licence of first occupation and habitation certificate are DIFFERENT pieces of paper (oh, how the Spanish love their paperwork!) The licence of first occupation means that the property is now legally considered to be a residence, which also allows the mains services (water / electricity) to be connected to the property. Once these are done, along with some other paperwork, your habitation certificate can then be issued because the property is then deemed habitable. This was confirmed by the Town Hall web site which shows the two different application forms and the different things required for each."

The licence attached seems to be the genuine Ayuntamiento one but you now need the habitation certificate!

March 24th a good day out for a worthy cause

MARTINE BARTHELEMI MEMERORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

I am sure many of you had the pleasure of knowing the good lady I knew her reasonable well & I can honestly say she was one of the top shelf.
By now most of you will know of the planned annual charity golf day in her honour.
The Oracle have run a full page spread ( page 16) advertising the event & a nice article ( page 33).
I believe the tournament is restricted to 80 players & there are already plenty of players attending, but I am sure there are a few places left if you are interested in playing.
Failing that I am sure Chad would welcome any one in the evening to The Outback for the entertainment , after dinner speeches & charity auction.
Hope to see some of you there
Regards

Chris

I seem to remember posting something similar to that on the other thread over a year ago, where the licence is issued by default if the council officer conveniently does not arrive to check within 3 months of the application. ;-))

Yes I remember the default bit but I did not know that was not the end of the paper chase and that another piece of paper the "habitation certificate" was required as well

Right, that is why I have been saying it is illegal to live in it with no water and electric meters in the owners name as you only get the habitation licence when those are installed.
Until it has that licence then the builder should not really sell it to you and it should still be insured by them as really it is still in the process of being built and you are not allowed to live in it without the habitation licence.
I can`t believe that solicitors are saying its ok to sign and move in. ;-((

Mine has consistently advised us against doing so, and we are just about to write to Fadesa (or rather he is), because we have just recieved an ultimatum letter from Fadesa saying complete, or we will complete for you. How they manage that is beyond me!

Sounds like you have a good one then.
There is no way they can make you sign for the house if it is not fit for habitation.
Then again the people that have signed and moved in so far have done you and the urbanization no favours as it looks like Fadesa are trying to steamroller everybody to exchange as quick as possible so that they get their money without delivering a finished package as they have got away with it before.

They presumably think that your abogado has your POA and will sign against your wishes (fat chance)
