Corrupt Spanish Legal System

Re: Corrupt Spanish Legal System
Well the law is an ass sometimes, and not only in Spain.
Read an article today about the cost of arresting Poles in England, ready to be sent back to Poland for trial.
Apparently the Poles fork out the cost of sending a private jet with escorts to the UK to transport each and every one one back, usually seperately, for such minor offences as,...wait for it,...stealing a sleeping pill, stealing a cake, stealing a wardrobe door, stealing a Christmas tree and last but not least, very serious offence,..stealing a pig!
Apparently most of them are back in the UK at work again by the following week.

I guess these Forums are open to all. And like any open meeting you will get different perceptions and attitudes.

If it were not for all the moaning Expats in Spain on forums there would probably not be any of the programmes about moaning Expats stuck in Spain.
Great place to research.

Re: Corrupt Spanish Legal System
I´m a bit late but regarding my previous message and answering chulo, when I read about the cases I mentioned it was in spanish (I am spanish), that´s the reason I did´t put the links.
I don't think they can be found in english but I can try to find them anyway and attach the links if you want to try to read them...
It's just I thought that we are not suposed to use spanish language here...
And I understand it is difficult to believe, but it's happening.

You don't need to read all of them, but I just wanted to provide left and right thinking sources so nobody can say that this is an invention
Last one is quite interesting, I think.
This is the funniest country, really.

I'm still a believer in no smoke without fire and without being present in there disputes its hard to believe without evidence and even then evidence can be falsified.
But for every case of miscarriage, there are many more guilty.
So does Spain sacrifice the few to protect the many or protect the few to sacrifice the many.
There are few threats that can compare to a women scorned.

Re: Corrupt Spanish Legal System
well the thing is: why not doing the same with muslims, irish or basks? Let's consider them all as terrorists in order to get happier and quieter lives for us.
You really don't see the problem? Sorry, but I can't believe in such blindness...
You think women are going to be safer if we lose our rights. Equal rights is the basis of democracy, it took a long time to get it, I cannot believe we are seriously thinking that going backwards in history is an answer...
Was it rigth when it was the opposite? It wasn't so long ago in my country...

H blocks.
Basques I believe are housed all over Spain, but many Basque people have suffered abuse from the Guardia.

OK.
The guilty now become the victims.
I'm not stating individual cases but it is possible that some men stating there being set up could actually be guilty.
There will always be winners and losers, innocents do serve in prison all over the world, Spain is not unique in this.

I'm afraid Spain is different...
I don't know any other country in Europe in which you are sentenced differently regarding your sex. Just an example:
You threaten a woman, you go 6-12 months to prison. A woman threatens you, she's jailed for a weekend.
In the meantime the violence is increasing despite the superlaw...

North Europeans coming to live in Spain are quite often amazed at the scale of the corruption.
However to many it is, and always has been, a way of life, and it should be remembered that Spain is not an exceptional case.
In most S.European countries it just seems to be a natural fact of life.
Italy is just one other example of many, where corruption has been out of control for many years.
It is often said that people get the Govt they deserve.
I am not entirely sure about that, but it never ceases to amaze me how voters can go back to the polls year after year and vote in politicians who they are very well aware, are up to their necks in corruption.......
