confused from info overload!! long term incapacity in spain?
Hi
I am new here and hoping someone can help as i have read and read but sometimes you can over read i think and get yourself confused as there is so much info and opinions.
We are planning to move to spain at the latter end of the year, i currently get longterm incapacity and the care component of DLA I have read that both can be transferred but then along the way read other things from other people so I am just hoping someone can tell me wether it is right that you can? And is it complicated to do? i have read that you have to fill out an S1 and contact the HMRC in newcastle, which I did and I had an email stating the following
Thank you for contacting HMRC Residency.
As you are not working in the UK your query has been passed to our Overseas Healthcare Team who will contact you in due course. There telephone number is 0191 21 81999
Is this correct and do i need to do anything else?
Thanks in advance!

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.
BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.
Please let me know if you need any further help.

But IB is being changed to ESA. When you change over to ESA and if you are put into the Working Support Group you will be only able to claim for 12 months (this is part of the Welfare Reform which is going through Parliament at the moment and has not been passed yet). When the 12 months are up you are then supposed to claim income support, which you cannot claim in Spain.
