Our house is an old village house . In the UK it would be called a terraced house, but on one side the adjoining house is empty and on the other side it is a ruin.
Our walls start off about half a metre thick on the ground floor and get narrower the further up you go, until on the second floor (built later than the rest of the house) it is only single brick. My husband has put a false wall with insulation behind it on the north-facing wall.
This room gets mould on the side east-facing wall in winter unless I heat and air it religiously and is like entering the inside of a freezer. This is not joined to another house as the derelict house next door is only two-storey..
Our heating on this floor is by electric radiator.
We have no problems with damp anwhere else in the house.
We are 1000m high in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

You could try fitting an extractor fan, our bathroom was always "dripping" in condensation after using the bath/shower.
Since we had the electrics upgraded and a fan fitted, the condensation problem has disappeared.
