Lynn are you sure this is a private company. If it is like the UK CAB that is a charity staffed mainly by volunteers who with time and training become very knowledgable in a variety of fields. I suppose the big difference with FACUA would be that this organisation would be staffed by native English speakers who with training master the intricacies of Spanish bureaucracy.

however - when someone asked the question on the group & I gave the same explanation as I gave above, saying that the FB group is a spin-off to the business, the woman who started it didn't 'correct' me & even said that I had given a clear explanation
the woman who runs it isn't a lawyer, (although has access to legal advice) and most of us who give advice there aren't specifically trained - we just have areas of 'expertise'
& the main 'advisors' aren't native English speakers either, & sometimes things do get a little 'lost in translation'
as I said though, that's not to say that the FB group isn't very useful

too late to edit - but yes it IS a business - not the facebook group, that's a spin-off/maybe a feeder
here - by becoming a member of the Costa Advice Bureau for 110€ a year you will get a reduction in fees

Some of the information provided above it not at all accurate. I am the founder of Citizens Advice Bureau Spain. We are not linked to CAB UK but follow the same strict rules. Setting up as a NPO and not a charity. We do not charge and with over 10.000 members in barely a year, we now have our sponsored website up and running. The Costa Advice Bureau was my business which is no longer in existence. The website is still up and we have promoted CAB Spain of the back of it as has good google ratings. Thank you for those who will have read this correction of the incorrect information published here. Thank you.

the link I gave was to the company which you ran or are still running - certainly the website is still active
so the information I posted is correct as of when I posted it, as far as I can see

The Costa Advice Bureau has not been active since 2012. Citizens Advice Bureau Spain is a separate entity. The Citizens Advice Bureau is not a spin off. We do not only offer a free service, we are helping over 10.000 expats to date.
