Default Chiclana gas

When we had the kitchen fitted, we were told we should go and register for the gas at the Cepsa office in Bahia Sur in San Fernando. We did and got our two bottles which we replace at garages. However the woman at Cepsa said that we should return and collect some documents, and could then telephone and have it delivered if neccessary. The office has closed down ! Anyone know where it may have moved to, or where another may be ??

Hi Poollounger, are you going to respond to my pm?

Anyroadup, we got our certificates in Chiclana from Iro Gas, No 6, Avda Reyes Catolicos Tel: 956 40 26 07. Ours is Repsol though, but they may be able to help you and its more convenient than San Fernando.

Good luck.

Why bother having them delivered? Isn't it simpler to nip to the local venta and swap them when needed?

Cepsa & repsol bottles are not interchangeable. By accident we ended up with 1 of each and we can now only ever swap like for like, we keep trying to swap the orange for a silver but they watch us like hawks

I sent a lengthy reply..have just resent it. We just have the aluminium CEPSA bottles, which we swop at the petrol station near Brown's bar. However there was a document we were supposed to collect from the CEPSA office. Having them delivered was just an option if I was ever over there for an extended period without a car. I am a great believer in getting all eventualities covered.

You can buy them from Florentinas but she does charge about an extra 2 euros and has a problem adding up. I nearly got charged an extra 10 euros and had to write it down for her. You can also buy free range eggs too. Also found today that the shop at Supressa is selling ham off the bone. I mean real ham not the smoked stuff. Wonderful, but, costing me a fortune.

Basically you need a contract, and your gas system will be checked every 5 years when they will change valves and pipes, pipes are dated and if you have a problem with fire etc, and the pipes are out of date, you may find your insurance invalid.

That's what I was trying to find out....so I do need to try and retrieve the document that I was supposed to collect from CEPSA before they closed the office down??? Do they make a visit when the contract expires??? One never has to show any documents when buying a new bottle....

Be very careful, there are loads of scammers who go round our area as bogus gas officials changing pipes etc. Phone up your supplyer and ask if their guys are in your area befor you let them in

Yes, we were new to Spain at the time, so got our property aftersales people to talk to the chap and make sure he was a real official before we allowed him to go ahead, but we had been left withour a copy of the original contract by the previous owners of the property.
