Just thought I would share this.........A friend of mine was contemplating buying a second hand car from a private seller.

So yesterday we went to Alicante Traffico and waited in the Sin Cita (without an appointment queue, yes better to make an appointment Cita previa but it was a spur of the moment thing) and when it was our turn we gave the funcionario the car registration number and he confirmed that the car was debt free and that the number did belong to the car as we saw advertised.

This was all for free and without filling in any forms. He also provided all the necessary forms for the transaction and general advice. Very useful and helpful.

As it turned out she did not buy the car but I was impressed with traffico office giving this information.

I understand there are some online services but the one I tried failed to find the reg number so I thought - Uh Oh problem - but then it failed to find mine on my car which I have owned from new so...........
