Not sure but I would think yes I do. We are now doing the first part of our trip from Gijon so we are introduced to a new area in Asturias and very beautiful it is too. Also we stage through St Nazaire which has the historically magnificent Nazi submarine pens where we had lunch on our diversion last year, then on to Rosscoff another new destination.

Hi John
You'll enjoy that route - we went from there down through Santiago De Compostella and Porto. The former was bit disappointing but has some nice restos in the old part of town. Porto is wonderful -thinking of spending a couple of days there next time (DV), maybe go on a boat trip up the Duoro to some of the wineries (or do they call them Porteries:) )
You'll find a lot of the signs in Gijon have been obliterated by local Asturian nationalists and replaced with XiXon - the local spelling/pronunciation.

Too late for me booked last week Santander to Portsmouth, I could not do the drive through France I hate sitting in a car for hours and hours. I have to hope the crossing is fairly calm or I will be in my cabin lying down :(

Just thought I would remind all of our friends and those we have not yet met that if you intend to travel by Brittany ferries from Portsmouth/Plymouth to Spain this year that I have renewed our membership for another year up to April 2014.

If you wish to use our friends and family discount please PM me for details.

We have found it useful over the last three or four years and I think our friends have too.

Re: CHEAPER LONG FERRY CROSSINGS

I have just received the latest newsletter from Brittany Ferries for June 2013 with a couple of interesting paragraphs.

“The summer season is almost upon us and, as our ports become busier, we suggest you allow a little more time for check in. We still have plenty of space, however, particularly on mid-week sailings so, if you are flexible, you can choose the one that suits your budget best now that each sailing is priced individually. It is also worth checking the offers pages on the website”.

“Winter schedules”

“The 2013/14 winter timetables will be available online to book from mid-August and will follow a similar pattern to those of last winter”.

Just a reminder that you can use my membership code to get up to 10% discount on Brittany Ferry crossings to Spain and France. With the flights to Spain going up all the time, try the ship and see some of Spain.

Here are details of how to use the code. Very easy but any problems send me a PM.

Happy Sailing to France or Spain and I get £10 off towards my next booking. So we both win! Don't worry it is perfectly correct and Brittany encourage the discount to get more bookings.

Details as follows to get up to 10% discount on your Ferry Bookings.

IF YOU BOOK ON LINE:

DROP DOWN MENU:

Are you a member of the travel club: YES
Property Travel Club Number: S91039
Lead Persons Name: (Your name)
The booking is for: a GUEST of the member.

IF YOU BOOK BY PHONE AND THEY ASK FOR MEMBERS NAME: PM me.

Happy sailing and if any problems PM me
Regards John.

My recent trip has probably made me decide on another route for return with dog to UK in the future. Food was appalling and way to expensive, staff were totally uninterested and the bed was awful. Return trip was too rough for me too
The piano player on the way up was good and chatty fellow. The return trip player was good the only time I was able to be upright :(

Was it bad all the way or just crossing Biscay? We have thought of doing that route but always left it too late to get a dog friendly cabin. We have done the LD crossing of Biscay and have to say we were glad to get off the boat. I asked a staff member if that crossing was normal or rough he said 'medium' I thought the bigger boats would be better. what will you do next time with the dog?

Hi, we sailed at 5. 15pm okay till about midnight, gale force wind forecast. It was too rough for me till about 1 pm ! had I found my sea sickness pills would have been better/okay. They are not allowed to sell them on board !

By the time I was able to shower and go up on decks it was a lovely day just a bit of a swell so yes guess it was only the Bay.

Next time may be the long drive through France then the tunnel.

For a dog enjoying a 'Dogs Life' the tunnel is the best way to go for them but who is in charge? We hardly slept crossing Biscay not only because it was too rough for us but because we were wondering what was going on in the motorhome with George down there on the lorry deck. In the end he did better than us.

Hi
I have just registered and am hoping to use the Portsmouth to Santander ferry and drive down to Ayamonte. How can I get 10% discount off the fare? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you read the detail on post 19. I know when you are new to this sort of thread it takes a while to get into the swing of things but if you are booking on line all the details you need are on there.

If you are booking by phone they might ask for my name but I somehow don't think so. Anyway you only need 3 posts to PM me and you have them now or will if you reply to this post. It works both ways you cannot PM me and I cannot PM you so maybe one more post will do it.

Thank you for your reply. As you said I now have my 3 posts so can PM you if necessary. As we will be travelling next January I will have to wait until the winter schedule is released before I can book.
