Changing hp address
Here´s a bit of an odd one and I´m hoping one of you techno bods can help?
My parents are looking at moving from Australia to Spain.
Initially they want to rent a place to get a better feel for the place.
The problem they´re having is viewing Spanish property sites such as photocasa.es from Australia.
I know when I´ve looked at BBC online I´ve had to change my hp address (I think that´s what it´s called) to a UK one using a software I downloaded.
Do you guys know of something similar they can do from OZ, to look at Spanish web sites?
Your help in this would be hugely appreciated as their pending move is already complicated enough!
Thanks, Stu

Click on Discussion Forum and under the heading General you will see The Lab, computer problems are answered very fast by people who are very knowledgeable. Also there may be people in Oz who have overcome this problem so could advise you.

It shouldn't be a problem. I have been on Spanish websites from the USA.

Re: Changing hp address
It is IP address. You do not need to change your IP address in Australia in order to view Spanish sites. The Internet is international! :-)

hatecold, thanks for the tip. However I wouldn´t be asking the question if this was the case. If I send them links they can´t open them. On visiting spain with the same laptop, the links opened perfectly.

Re: Changing hp address
I used to look at fotocasa when in the Uk so I don't see why someone in .au would have a problem - it is World Wide.
Today, using my phone, I have been reading US, Indian, and Malaysian websites with no problem, not even the language
the BBC is a different proposition, they don't make much intellectual property themselves - they commission companies owned by their staff and friends etc to make it for them. As part of the agreement they agree to only allow it to be read in the UK. Although the BBC has used public money to commission it, this leaves the company the opportunity to then sell it into various locations under different contracts.
Many fine progs on their player are embargoed by the location of my IP address.

Seems very strange I have viewed Estate agents websites in Oz ans NZ with no problem, What search engine are they using?
The only problems I have personally come across is with ITVplayer ( not BBC iplayer from Gib it works fine ) however if you use Firefox then the addon Media Hint solves it.
So maybe worth a try from OZ

I find the whole thing a bit odd myself. Is it because they are outside of Europe??? I really don´t know so I´ll get them to try with Firefox.
Oh no! I have to try and explain to them how to change their search browser...I really hadn´t thought this through

Re: Changing hp address
Might be an issue with the links or security setting, but more likely simply operator error. Have you suggested cut and paste link in to browser?
I would suggest they ask a friend or neighbour to help / visit their nearest computer shop for advice.
