Changing banks
#31
Hi Everyone, slightly off topic I know, but could anyone explain the fees I have been charged below. Had the account 10 years and not had these before! Emailed the bank, but no response. Going over in a few weeks and will ask then, but heads up would be good!
Bank with Banco De valencia
27/11/12 General Directorate of Police fee 6.82
29/11/12 Non-resident Accreditation Commission 10.91
21/1/13 General Directorate of Police fee 6.82
Thanks in advance

Hi, yes non resident. So I understand there used to be that fee once a year, but they seem to have gone mad with the fees and as it is a joint account, it's times two!

In that case, no idea. We were charged the same with resident and non resident accounts with Solbank, it was about €22 a quarter all in but it had added things to make it worthwhile, plus we had two credit cards and two debit cards.

Ok, thanks Mitzyboy. Just have to enquire at the bank!

My experience of enquiring at BDV was a shrug of the shoulders. Once they told me that they would reduce the charge for incoming internet transfers, but the next time I made one they charged me the same and then I got the shrug
Their charges were high, I dont know if that has changed.

I know what you mean.
It is strange that these charges have only started since I moved most of our money over to Deutsche Bank. I left a little bit of money in the account out of loyalty and now it's almost all gone in charges! That'll teach me!!

These are the fees associated with holding a non resident account the first one is the actual cost of the certificate for the national police, the second is the banks commission for doing it for you and as you have a joint account the third would be for the joint account holder certificate.
That is chicken feed Solbank just charged us €30 + €6.82 for the same thing and there are 5 of us on the account so it was 5 x €36.82 = €184.10 for not very much. We also pay €22 a qtr fees

Here in France we run two bank accounts and both with different banks
1) for our day to day spending as in living and
2) another for the overheads as in tax and the like and for clarity keep them apart.
We are doing exactly the same in Javea and Sabadell for one and Deutsche for the other. Deutsche are nearest to our home and parking relatively ok.
Again we will watch like a hawk the charges.
Must admit that Deutsche have impressed us.

Hi, I've just been looking at the Sabadell Bank Website. They seem to be offering free everything! as long as you have Euro 700 a month transferred in. Free account, no maintenance fee. No card fee's Etc.
Looks good to me, that's the one I will be having an account with.
