2nd hand cars certainly do seem expensive where I've been looking.

Example:

Fiesta
10 years old (2004 plate)
57k

cost - 4,495

Brand new Fiesta = 8,495

Buy one in Uk for £300 and chance it, ive seen a Peugeot 205 in Almoradi, not even GTI, for 750€ I doubt you would find many 205's left in the UK!

Hopefully we will get a definitive answer.
I have not yet applied to be a resident but I have just bought a car and insured it, all road legal, traffico etc. all happy so Yes would be the answer.

My advice would be to go to the public auctions of repossessed cars in Spain, there are bargains to be had. You wont get the warranty that you would with a car showroom but if you use your noggin whilst looking at these cars you can get a good idea of their condition.
