Friend of mine bought a car and 3 hours later on the way home engine blew up, the engine is a total loss, had to pay for recovery one thing and another .
What's her rights re full refund ?

If it`s from a private sale then it is sold as seen, a car showroom has to give a warrenty.

It's in Spain from a dealer and she has a warranty, they say bring it back, bit awkward with no engine and 300 kms away, already paid breakdown truck home, they also say cheaper to scrap it as its a cheapy, but don't want to refund her. She wants to know what she can do.

sometimes a legal letter can get them to move.

To correct the mis-information about buying a car privately..........
Unless it's mentioned specifically in the sales invoice that the buyer takes full responsibility for faults (hidden or otherwise), the buyer has automatic protection in the event of problems.
From the dealer.......get the ball rolling with Hoja de Reclamaciones.
