Default Car broken into.

On a recent trip to Oliva we made the mistake to park down by the beach in Oliva Nova. On returning to the car we found the rear passenger window smashed. The car hire company sorted out the car but we had to report the break in. They gave us a phone number for the police where you make the report in English and it is typed in Spanish. We had to go to Gandia to a police station to pick up a copy and sign the 'denuncia' but the process was much easier than having to try to give a statement in Spanish with the local police.

For reference the phone number is 902102112. It is not a local person who takes the call so I assume the number can be used anywhere in Spain. It may be of use to someone.

902 numbers are also used by supermarkets and shops for their client helplines, so I assume its something like an 0845 number in the UK

The numbers 900, 901 and 902 are used by normal businesses to encourage you to call them and to allow them to operate nationally without the need for local numbers in each area. Linea Direct Ins., Carrefour etc. use them and you never know where you are really phoning. As you say they are similar to 0845 numbers in UK. The prefixes to be wary of in Spain are 903, 904, 905 and 906. 906 is the porn and TV competition number and very expensive so be warned!
